Uttoxeter Races,Friday 30th October 2015

Uttoxeter for an informative afternoons racing on an overcast afternoon in Staffordshire.

Seven races which was made up of average handicaps and some nice novice events including a top notch novice chase which was the best race of the day in regards of quality.

All is calm

12.45 Breeders’ Cup Exlusivley On ATR Handicap Hurdle (Div 1) Class 5,2m,9 flights,3yo+(0-100)

A poor race in which the whole field had won two races between them over jumps.

Top weight Vicky’s Charm took this on her handicap debut and looks capable of finding a bit extra at this level, she finished 1.5 lengths ahead of Kings River who was staying on towards the end, Favourite Nolecce ran out of credit after the second last flight.

1.15 Breeders’ Cup Starts Tonight On ATR Novices’ Hurdle,Class 4,2m4f,10 flights,4yo+

This looked a top quality novice hurdle and the inform Phillip Hobbs stable look to have another nice prospect here with Onefitzall who turned  this race into a procession as he put in an assured performance.

Mid div early doors he went to the lead from long time leader Aliandy after three out and this promptly put the race to bed, eased in the last 75 yards he beat Beware The Bear from the Henderson hard by four lengths who in turn was 44 ahead from 50-1 shot Captain Flash in third.

Onefitzall looks a top prospect, connections may go for another race in this company but hopefully he could go for races like the Challow or the Leamnington Hurdle.

Beware The Bear looks a real chasing type, runner up in a couple of points he will be even better with an extra half mile and fences in time, Captain Flash needs one more race for a mark.

One horse who never went was the Jonjo O’Neill trained Suit Yourself, always in the rear he never got competitive.

1.50 ATR Get In! Breeders’ Cup Special Tonight Mares’ Maiden Hurdle,Class 5,2m,9 flights,3yo+ Fillies and Mares

Emma Lavelle looks to have a useful type here with hurdling debutant Out Of The Mist as she had to be driven right out under Richie McLernon to add to her two bumper wins last year, she managed to keep the rallying Lady Of Lamanver half a length back in second spot.

Out Of The Mist took two Doncaster bumpers last season before finishing sixth in the big Mares bumper at Sandown,no doubt the new mares race at Cheltenham will inevitably come under scrutiny but expect connections to hunt for black type during the season.

Lady Of Lamanver ran well on her second start over timber, she looks likely to do better over further when sent handicapping

The highly regarded Sanaija ran ok on her hurdling debut, she will have learnt from this a lot.

Out Of The Mist

2.25 Breeders’ Cup Exclusivley Live On ATR Handicap Hurdle,(Div 2) Class 5,2m,9 flights,3yo+ (0-100)

Pay Your Way had in duck eggs what Leeds Utd have had in managers these past few years and by that I mean a lot!

He was however quitely fancied by some and duly obliged to pick his first win up under rules for jockey Paul Moloney to give favourite Arthamint a 3.75 length beating.

This division was marginally better than the first one, wether the winner can follow up is debatable.

Mid race action

3.00 Attheraces.Com/BreedersCup Beginners Chase,Class 4,2m,12 fences,4yo+

An excellent and intriguing chase which was full of top quality hurdles going over the bigger obstacles.

Two horses dominated the betting and the market got it right as Garde La Vicoire scored emphatically being seven lengths ahead of the 4yo Bristol De Mai who despite getting some nice weight allowances could not stop the favourite once he passed him up the straight.

Garde La Victoire was a bit close at a couple but he jumped well and now heads to Cheltenham for the Arkle trial,he has a good future ahead over fences.

Bristol De Mai was keen early but could be better going for a 4yo only chase.

Regal Encore was over twenty lengths back in third but jumped well and will come into his own when he goes over a longer trip.

Garde La Victoire has a well earned drink

3.35 Breeders’ Cup Live On ATR Mares’ Handicap Hurdle,Class 4,2m7f,12 flights,4yo+ Fillies and Mares (0-120)

A very competitive race for the grade here which resulted in a nice bit of riding from one of last seasons top conditionals Ryan Hatch (3) as he galvanised the 6yo Millicent Silver to take this stamina sapping event, the summer break had clearly done her some good and she looks capable of improving a bit more.

Back in second by eleven lengths we had Midnight Sapphire who has been nicely placed during the summer and Tambura back in third.

4.10 Your Breeders’ Cup Guide At Attheraces.com/BreedersCup Handicap Chase,Class 4,2m4f,15 fences,4yo+ (0-120)

Richard Johnson got the hat trick and sent punters home happy as he had a mere steering job on the Warren Greatrex trained Aloomomo who looks to be finally going the right way over here.

The ex French trained 5yo looked a lot happier back down in trip and made a mockery of his mark of 108,he is far better than this company, expect much more to come, Minellaforlunch came second but was twelve lengths adrift.

A very interesting afternoon then.

Class act of the day was without a doubt Garde La Victoire,he won a really good novice chase and looks to be going places as does Onefitzall who took the 2m4f novice hurdle.

This afternoons Wattspots are as follows

Taylor,4th in the Mares staying hurdle, she will be better on a more sound surface.

Lady Persephone, only beaten a head fourth in the Mares maiden hurdle, she will be better up in trip
Next jumping action is from Carlisle in just over a weeks time, till then Goodbye
